August Update

The end of summer is fast approaching and as usual I feel like I’m playing catch-up in the vineyard. Fortunately, the grapevines are tough. Despite a VERY dry season with drought conditions and a lack of hand-watering, the vines are looking pretty good and are carrying a decent crop (by our small standards anyway).

I spent some time this week retying some vines, applying netting to keep the birds from the fruit and also watering. I missed applying netting by a few days last season and lost the entire crop. So I’m trying to make sure I don’t do the same thing this year.
